Jill Roberts, harpist,and Ryan Smith, pianist, present a Christmas CD containing over fifteen Christmas carols, hymns, and tunes from around the world. The CD contains familiar carols such as Silent Night, Angels We Have Heard on High, and Gesu Bambino. Becky Reynolds, a gifted South Carolina artist, contributed the original artwork. The CD contains a mixture of harp and piano solos; no duets.

About the Artists

Ryan Smith and Jill Roberts graduated in 2001 from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, with degrees in Music Performance. While at Furman they performed together frequently in recitals, and they also were involved in campus ministry.

Ryan began playing the piano at the age of eight, having studied with Ruby Morgan, Derek Parsons, Sheila Paige, Marina Lomazov, and most recently Charles Fugo. He has accompanied, performed, and taught piano. Ryan has performed many of these works at Carnegie Hall.

Recently Ryan has published three Christmas carols, including What Child is This and Away in a Manger from this Christmas CD. This album follows Ryan’s solo CD, O Worship the King, which features twelve hymns that he arranged and performed on the piano. Several of his arrangements from that album are now in print, including "Be Thou My Vision" and "Great Is Thy Faithfulness." Ryan now resides in Columbia, S.C.

Jill lives in Atlanta, Georgia, where she performs with various ensembles including the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. In 2001 she received her Bachelor of Music degree in Harp Performance from Furman University where she was principal harpist for the Furman Symphony Orchestra. A finalist in the American Harp Society's national competition, she was principal harpist for the highly acclaimed Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra for four years. Jill began harp lessons at the age of five and has studied with Susan Brady, Elisabeth Remy, and Anita Burroughs-Price. She is happily married to Andy.
